AIIMS Bhopal Project Research Scientist-II Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal (AIIMS Bhopal) is hiring Project Research Scientist-II staff for NCD-India, a research project funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The project builds validated disease models and a patient-level microsimulation platform with distributional cost-effectiveness analysis, so that policy planning for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in India can account for equity. The team sits in the Department of Community and Family Medicine under Principal Investigator Dr. Abhijit P Pakhare. These are contractual project posts, not regular AIIMS jobs, and selection happens through a walk-in interview in Bhopal.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Research Scientist-II (Medical): meant for doctors, dental surgeons and veterinary graduates. The project gives preference to people who have already worked on NCD research projects and on disease modelling, so a public health or community medicine background fits well.
• Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical): meant for postgraduates and four-year engineering, IT or computer science graduates. The notice prefers candidates who can show work in R, Python or similar languages building web applications, simulations or dashboards, since the project's output is a software modelling platform.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Place of work: Bhopal district, Madhya Pradesh. You may also be sent to rural or field sites when the project needs it.
• Tenure: One year to start, which can be extended based on your performance and on ICMR approving a longer project duration.
• No claim to a regular post: The job ends with the project. It gives you no right to a permanent position at AIIMS Bhopal or with the funding agency, and the Principal Investigator decides on extension or termination.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with 30 days' notice or pay in place of notice.
• Consolidated pay: No allowances are paid beyond the agreed monthly amount. Leave follows the institute's policy for externally funded research projects.
• Experience counting: Experience counts only after you complete the minimum qualification. Government experience is preferred, but work at reputed national or international organisations is also accepted.
• Employer NOC: If you already work on a government or funded research project, bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer.
• Conduct: Private practice is not allowed. Canvassing or false information leads to disqualification, and any dispute falls under the courts in Bhopal.
• No accommodation or travel cost: The institute will not give housing, and you get no TA/DA for attending the test or interview.
