ACB Gujarat has released a notification for 2 Legal Advisor posts — 1 at the Assistant Director, ACB Bhavnagar unit office and 1 at the Assistant Director, ACB Panchmahal unit office — on a contract basis. The Bureau needs experienced lawyers to strengthen its anti-corruption drive by handling the legal side of its cases, from advising investigating officers to representing the Bureau's position in court. Retired judges, retired public prosecutors and lawyers experienced in ACB cases are especially encouraged to apply for this role.

This is an 11-month contract role to begin with, and either side can end it with one month's notice. If you have spent years arguing cases in Sessions Court, especially bribery or corruption matters, and want a stable government-linked legal role, this posting is worth applying for. Both posts are based outside Ahmedabad — one at the Bhavnagar unit and one at the Panchmahal unit — so you should be comfortable relocating to and living at your assigned duty station for the length of the contract.

Who Can Apply?

ACB Gujarat is looking for lawyers with strong criminal law experience who can guide investigators and represent the Bureau's interests confidently in court. You need to meet all of the following conditions to be considered:

• Qualification: You need a law degree (LLB) from a recognized university.
• Experience: You should have at least 7 years of experience as a practicing lawyer. Retired judges and retired government pleaders can also apply.
• You must have handled cases in Sessions Court — candidates who have specifically handled ACB (bribery/corruption) cases get preference.
• You need to attach a copy of a judgment from a case you personally argued — applications without this copy will not be considered.
• You should have knowledge and hands-on experience of criminal law, and candidates with experience in bribery cases get preference.
• You must know how to use a computer and the internet, and have a working knowledge of English.
• You must be a member of a recognized legal/bar body and submit proof of this membership — applications without this proof will not be considered.
• You must be willing to live at the place of posting — daily commuting from another city is not allowed.
• If you are a retired officer or employee, you should have no pending departmental action against you, and no criminal case should be registered against you.

Age Limit

• You should be between 45 and 62 years old.
• Retired officers can be appointed only up to 62 years of age.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 60,000 on a contract basis — this amount does not change during the contract period.
• No dearness allowance, medical reimbursement, pension, bonus, LTC or leave encashment is paid on this fixed honorarium.
• The initial contract term is 11 months, and either side can end it with one month's notice.
• You get 11 casual leaves per year — no other type of leave is payable.
• You cannot take up private practice or any other part-time job while working under this contract, and you may be asked to work on public holidays if the Bureau needs it.

Selection Process

Selection for this post is through an interview — there is no written exam:

1. Interview: A committee formed for this purpose will call you to Ahmedabad on the given date and time to assess your legal experience.
2. Document Verification: You need to submit your educational, bar membership and case experience documents along with the application for verification.

No travel allowance is paid for attending the interview, so plan your visit to Ahmedabad accordingly.
