ABV IIITM Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM), Gwalior is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow for a sponsored project in its Computer Science and Engineering department. The Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology funds this work on deep learning for early lung cancer screening. You will join a project appointment governed by the funding agency and institute rules.
The research description focuses on chest CT scans, with a framework intended to locate pulmonary nodules and assess whether they may be benign or malignant. The wider aim is to support earlier identification of suspicious nodules and make AI-assisted screening more accessible. This gives you the context for the research rather than a promise of a finished clinical product.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial tenure: The appointment starts for one year. An extension up to project completion depends on satisfactory performance, with reviews every six months.
- Project supervision: Prof. K. V. Arya is the principal investigator. Dr. Sunil Kumar and Dr. Divya Gautam are the co-investigators.
- Project-title discrepancy: The opening text and institute page describe pulmonary nodule detection and risk assessment. However, the PDF table labels the project as development of AI/ML modules in the ARISTO platform for chemotherapy automation. Ask the investigators to clarify this mismatch before accepting an appointment.
- Appointment terms: Your engagement remains temporary and linked to the sponsored project. Any continuation is subject to the funding agency and institute conditions described in the notice.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep learning framework for pulmonary nodule detection.
- Work on nodule localisation in chest CT scans.
- Extract features for malignancy risk assessment.
- Classify nodules as benign or malignant within the research framework.
- Report research progress regularly to the investigators.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Master’s degree in engineering, technology, electronics or mechatronics, or an institute-recognised equivalent MSc/MCA/MS in a relevant field with mathematics at 10+2; at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10 in the qualifying degree.
Preferred Qualification
GATE/NET qualification; experience with image processing, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, PyTorch and Python.
Required Skills
Regular research-progress reporting to the investigators.
