UPPSC Inspector of Drugs Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has reopened its Inspector of Drugs recruitment for the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, Uttar Pradesh. The post is Group-B and Gazetted, and the service runs under the Uttar Pradesh State Drug Control Gazetted Officers Service Rules, 1995 together with the later amendment rules made for the Food and Drug Administration Department.

The reopening is the part worth knowing. The Commission first advertised the post in December 2025 under Advertisement No. D-6/E-1/2025 and closed applications the following January. A Supreme Court order in a special leave petition filed against the advertised qualification then led the state government to restate the essential educational qualification for this post, and UPPSC has reopened the same advertisement so that candidates who are eligible under the restated qualification get their turn. If you applied the first time, you do not have to apply again, and every other condition of the original advertisement stands unchanged.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• One Time Registration comes first: the whole application runs on the OTR system, and the Commission asks you to get your OTR number from its OTR portal at least 72 hours before you submit the form.
• What you claim is frozen: category, sub-category, domicile, gender, date of birth, EWS status, creamy-layer status, name and address are taken as claimed up to the last date for modification. Nothing is changed after that, and a wrong claim cancels the candidature.
• Nothing is posted to the Commission right now: the printed application and the supporting papers reach UPPSC only after the screening examination, when the Commission calls for them through a press communique.
• Admission stays provisional: the Commission may let you sit the examination after a summary check, but candidature is withdrawn at any stage if you turn out to be ineligible — even after a recommendation for appointment has been made.
• Wrong information is expensive: UPPSC can debar a candidate from this selection and from all future examinations and selections for up to five years for a claim that cannot be backed by documents, or for any other malpractice.
• Experience certificates need counter-verification: where a claim rests on work with substances specified in Schedule 'C' to the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, the certificate from the competent authority has to be verified by the Drug Controller of the state in which the company or firm is located.
• Preference, not eligibility: other things being equal, preference in direct recruitment goes to candidates who served at least two years in the Territorial Army or hold a 'B' certificate of the National Cadet Corps.
• Disability sub-categories: the sub-categories notified for this post are L.V., H.H., O.L. and Dw.

Application Submission Notes

You apply only on the Commission's website, uppsc.up.nic.in, through its "All Notifications/Advertisements" section, where this advertisement carries its own User Instructions, View Advertisement and Apply links. An application sent through any other medium is not accepted.

The fee is paid into the bank through the SBI MOPS gateway once you have authenticated with your OTR number and filled in the qualification details for the post. Print the payment transaction slip as soon as the payment goes through. If the screen shows "Payment Failed", log back in to the Candidate Dashboard and clear the pending payment before the deadline, because an application whose fee has not reached the bank is not treated as submitted.

Finally, print the completed application form and keep it safely. The Commission asks for it if any discrepancy comes up later, and you need it again — along with self-attested copies of the marksheets and certificates backing every claim you made — when documents are called for after the screening examination.
