HPPSC Medical Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), Shimla, has opened Online Recruitment Applications under Advertisement Number 62/9-2026 for Medical Officer (General Wing), Group-A posts in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Himachal Pradesh. These are the doctors who staff the state's health institutions, and the Commission is filling both fresh and carried-over vacancies in this cycle. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Job trainee engagement: your appointment runs under the state's job-trainee scheme on a fixed amount, not on the regular scale from day one. Read the Department of Personnel notification of 19 July 2025 before you apply.
• Bonafide Himachali only for reserved seats: reservation is admissible only to bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh. A reserved-category candidate from another state is treated as a general candidate and gets no fee concession and no relaxed standard.
• Category is locked: the category you claim in your OTR profile before the closing date is final. Changing it later is allowed only in the narrow circumstances the Commission itself lists, and a wrongly claimed category can push you into the unreserved pool.
• NOC for serving candidates: if you are in regular government service or in a government-owned industrial service, you will not be allowed into document verification without a No Objection Certificate from your employer. Contract, casual, adhoc, daily-rated and work-charged employees do not need one.
• Vacancies can move: the Commission says plainly that the number of posts filled on the basis of this screening test may increase or decrease, and being called for the Personality Test is no assurance of selection.
• Conduct rules bite: examinations conducted by HPPSC now fall under the Himachal Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2025. Impersonation, carrying a phone or any communication device into the hall, or using unfair means can get you debarred for up to fifteen years, besides criminal prosecution.
• Venue timing: entry into the examination venue closes thirty minutes before the exam starts, and appearing at a centre other than the one allotted to you means straight rejection.
• No re-checking: re-checking or re-evaluation of the screening test is not allowed in any case. Objections to the answer key are taken only online, within the window the Commission announces, and each objected question carries a non-refundable charge that is never returned.

Before you submit, you have to give an undertaking that you checked the preview of every uploaded document and are satisfied that they are legible — you cannot blame poor scanning later. Once submitted, no correction or modification is possible, so check every field first. An application without a scanned latest photograph or signature of the prescribed size is rejected outright.
