State Bank of India (SBI) is hiring 1538 Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) under a Special Recruitment Drive for SC, ST, and OBC backlog vacancies. State Bank of India, India's largest public sector bank with thousands of branches across the country, has released Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/SPLDRIVE/2026-27/16 for 1538 backlog vacancies of Junior Associate - commonly known as the SBI Clerk post. This is a Special Recruitment Drive exclusively for SC, ST, and OBC candidates to fill long-pending reservation backlog vacancies. These posts are notified across SBI circles in multiple states and union territories, so you can pick the circle where you want to work. The online registration window runs from 7 August 2026 to 27 August 2026, and the registration process is managed through the IBPS online portal on behalf of SBI.

Vacancy Breakdown by Category

• ST (Scheduled Tribe): 1219 posts
• SC (Scheduled Caste): 207 posts
• OBC (Other Backward Class): 112 posts

This Special Recruitment Drive covers backlog vacancies in these three categories only - General, EWS, and unreserved candidates cannot apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
• Category: Only SC, ST, and OBC candidates can apply for this Special Recruitment Drive - it is not open to General, EWS, or unreserved candidates.
• Local Language: You should be comfortable with the local language of the state/circle you apply for, since a Local Language Proficiency Test is part of the selection process.
• Not more than one application should be submitted by a candidate. If you submit multiple applications, only your last valid application will be retained and fees paid for the earlier ones will be forfeited.

Age Limit

• You should be between 20 and 28 years old as on 1 April 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Trained SBI Apprentices whose engagement started on or after 1 January 2022 and who successfully completed 1 year of branch experience get relaxation in the upper age limit. Standard category-wise relaxation also applies as per Government of India and Bank rules.

Application Fee

• SC / ST / PwBD: No fee
• OBC: Rs. 750
• Payment mode: online only, via debit card, credit card, or Internet Banking.

Selection Process

SBI will select candidates in 3 stages:

1. Preliminary Examination: An online objective test used to shortlist candidates for the Main Exam.
2. Main Examination: A more detailed online test; your Main Exam score decides your position in the final merit list.
3. Local Language Proficiency Test: You must qualify in the local language of the state/circle you applied for before you can join.

You must clear each stage to move to the next one. Your admission to the exam is provisional - SBI verifies your age, qualification, and category documents only at the time of joining, without checking documents beforehand. Multiple attendance or appearance by a candidate in the exam will lead to summary rejection or cancellation of candidature.

How to Apply

1. Go to the SBI careers portal at sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings and open Recruitment of Junior Associates.
2. Register online and fill in your application form carefully - you can save and edit your data up to 3 times before final submission.
3. Upload your scanned photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per the specified format.
4. Pay the application fee online through debit card, credit card, or Internet Banking (if applicable to your category).
5. Submit the form and save the printout of your application and e-receipt for your records.
