Raman Research Institute (RRI), an autonomous institute funded by the Government of India, has released Advertisement No. 17/2026 for 2 Research Assistant posts. The selected candidates will work in the Quantum Network and Sensing group led by Dr. Tanmoy Chakraborty, on projects in quantum photonics. This is a fresher-friendly research role with no written exam, and even candidates who have appeared for their final exam can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• M.Sc in Physics, Photonics, Optoelectronics or related fields, OR
• B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech in Engineering Physics, Electronics or related fields
• You need a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the above degree
• Candidates who have appeared for their final exam can also apply, but must submit the provisional degree certificate at the time of joining

Skills That Help (Desirable)

• Designing, fabrication and characterisation of integrated photonic circuits
• Free-space optical layout design and alignment
• Handling sensitive optical components, fiber optics and detectors
• Programming in Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW to control lab test instruments

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 26 years (as on the last date, 15 July 2026)
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates get relaxation as per Government of India rules

Salary

• Consolidated salary of Rs. 31,000 per month
• You will also get HRA as applicable per the Institute's norms

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Selection is done as follows:

1. Shortlisting: The Institute may shortlist candidates for the test/interview based on qualification and experience higher than the minimum required.
2. Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a test and/or interview.

Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call.
