RGNAU Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU), set up by an Act of Parliament in 2013 and based at Fursatganj in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh, is hiring regular teaching staff at all three levels: Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. The posts serve the university's aviation science, management and engineering programmes, which cover areas such as aviation safety, aviation law, navigation and avionics.

This drive also carries backlog posts for reserved categories. Every SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and EWS post in the notice is marked as a backlog vacancy, while the unreserved posts are fresh openings. The university fills each post by direct recruitment first and turns to deputation only if direct recruitment does not work out.

Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) can apply. Other foreign nationals may be considered only for a fixed contract of up to five years, subject to Government of India clearance.

Posts and Disciplines

• Aviation Science Courses (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor): for specialists in aerospace and aeronautical engineering, aviation engineering and technology, relevant computer science areas, aviation maintenance management, navigation, aircraft power plants, meteorology, aircraft systems, pilot theory, dangerous goods, aviation safety management, aviation law, air regulation, aircraft radio and instruments, and remotely piloted aircraft systems.
• Management or Business Administration Courses (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor): economics, accounting and finance, marketing, human resource management, operations research, supply chain management, decision sciences, and IT analysis and management. Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants and Company Secretaries can qualify in place of a management master's degree.
• Engineering and Technology Courses (Professor and Associate Professor only): aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical, electronics and communication, avionics, computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science. These posts feed the B.Tech programmes in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, ECE with Avionics, and AI and Data Science (Aviation Systems).
• Industry route: at Professor and Associate Professor level in management and engineering, professionals with a master's degree and long senior-level industry experience can apply without the usual academic path.

The university says these specialisation lists are indicative, not exhaustive, and the final areas depend on what each course needs at the time of selection.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Probation: One year for direct recruits, extendable by the appointing authority. If probation is not completed satisfactorily, services can end without notice.
• Pension: All appointees, including in-service candidates, come under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
• Deputation tenure: Deputation normally runs for up to five years (three years for Assistant Professor in Management courses).
• Accommodation: Residential accommodation on the university campus is given on joining, as per allotment rules.
• Experience that does not count: Guest, visiting or expert-lecturer teaching, teaching at 10+2 level, and the time spent earning an M.Phil. or Ph.D. are not counted as teaching experience.
• Publications: Papers published on or after 14 June 2019 count only if the journal is on the UGC-CARE list; journals without an ISSN and book chapters without an ISBN are not scored.
• Lower post offer: The selection committee can recommend a Professor or Associate Professor applicant for the next lower post.
• Interview: You must attend the interview in person; requests to change the schedule are not accepted. No TA/DA is paid, but outstation SC/ST candidates get a return second-class rail fare.
• Teaching language: Courses are taught in English.
• Legal disputes: Only courts in Lucknow have jurisdiction.

• Apply through the university's Samarth recruitment portal and use an active email address, because every call letter and update comes by email only.
• If you are already employed, apply through proper channel. You can send an advance copy; the forwarded form with the No Objection Certificate and vigilance clearance should reach the university at least ten days before the interview, or be handed in on interview day.
• Keep a printout of the submitted online form and copies of all certificates, as you must bring them to the interview if shortlisted.
