NIT Patna Project Assistant and Field Worker Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Patna (NIT Patna) is hiring a Project Assistant and a Field Worker for its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Bihta campus. Both posts belong to the research project "SwarShiksha: Voice Powered Learning in Indian Languages for Visually Impaired Children", funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under its Advanced Research Grant (ARG) programme. The project builds voice-based learning tools in Indian languages for children who cannot see, so your work feeds straight into an assistive-technology product.

The project is led by Dr. Syed Shahnawazuddin (Principal Investigator) with Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhandari as Co-Investigator. These are project posts, not regular institute jobs, and they suit fresh graduates who want research exposure and a possible route into a PhD.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Assistant: the technical role on the SwarShiksha team. A science degree or a three-year engineering diploma is enough to apply, but B.E./B.Tech holders in ECE, CSE or EEE who code in C, Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow or MATLAB, know GNU-Linux and understand signal, speech and image processing get preference.
• Field Worker: the field and documentation role, open to graduates of any discipline. The team prefers people who are good with MS-Office and Excel, have collected data in the field, have cleaned, transcribed or annotated such data, and can prepare project reports.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Both posts are purely temporary and end with the project, which is planned to run for three years.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Already employed? You must submit a No-Objection Certificate from your current employer.
• Your documents, your responsibility: You must make sure every experience claim, document and photo ID you send is genuine.
• Interview call: The shortlist and the interview date are sent by email, so keep checking your inbox.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Joining: Selected candidates are expected to join immediately.
• PhD route: Selected candidates will be encouraged to register for a PhD in the ECE Department in the December 2026 session.
