CMFRI Young Professional-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) is hiring a Young Professional-I for its Field Laboratory at Kavaratti, Lakshadweep. The post comes under the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project run by CMFRI. The project leans towards seagrass restoration and seaweed farming, so a fisheries, aquaculture or marine biology background fits best.

This is a contractual, project-linked post that lasts up to five years or until the NICRA project ends, whichever comes first. Being a good swimmer gives you an edge, which makes sense for island field work, and an M.F.Sc or M.Sc with hands-on seagrass or seaweed experience is preferred.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• No regular job claim: The post is purely contractual, non-regular, time-bound and ends with the project. You cannot claim a regular appointment at CMFRI later.
• Relatives at ICAR/CMFRI: If any near or distant relative works at ICAR or CMFRI, declare their name, designation, duties and relationship in Annexure-II in advance. If you declare it only on interview day, you will not be interviewed.
• No travel allowance: You get no TA/DA for attending the interview.
• CGPA/OGPA marks: Bring the approved conversion table or formula when you report, or your candidature will not be considered.
• Vacancies may change: The number of posts can vary with other project requirements on the interview date.
• Termination: CMFRI can end the engagement at any time without giving reasons, and hiding facts or canvassing leads to disqualification.
• Final say: The Director, ICAR-CMFRI decides all matters related to this recruitment.
