NFR Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 — 56 Vacancies

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is hiring 56 sportspersons against Sports Quota through Open Advertisement 2026-27. If you have passed Class 10th (Level-1 posts) or Class 12th (Level-2/3 posts) and have recognized sports achievements, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 24 August 2026. You should be between 18 and 25 years old as on 1 January 2027, and the salary ranges from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 69,100 per month depending on your pay level.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Sports Quota Recruitment 2026-27 - 56 Posts

Northeast Frontier Railway has issued Employment Notification No. 04/2026 to fill 56 posts across more than 20 sports disciplines, including archery, athletics, basketball, badminton, boxing, cricket, football, golf, kabaddi, powerlifting, table tennis, volleyball, and weightlifting. No written examination is required — selection is based purely on your sports performance, achievements, and educational qualification. Active sportspersons with achievements in national or international events in the last two years should apply.

Vacancy Breakdown by Pay Level

• Level-1 (GP-1800): 35 posts — includes Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Boxing, Golf, and Powerlifting events
• Level-2/3 (GP-1900/2000): 21 posts — includes Archery, Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Table Tennis, and Weightlifting events

Posting distribution: 31 posts at NFR Zonal Headquarters and 25 posts across the Divisions (Alipurduar, Katihar, Rangiya, Lumding, and Tinsukia — 5 posts per division).

Who Can Apply?

For Level-2/3 Posts:

• Qualification: Passed Class 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent from a Government-recognized Board/Council/Institution.

For Level-1 Posts:

• Qualification: Passed Class 10th (matriculation), ITI, or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

• Sports Achievement: Your achievement must be in a recognized championship held on or after 1 April 2024. Requirements vary by discipline and pay level — for example, representing the country, or securing at least 3rd position in Category-C championships or Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships, for Level-2/3 posts.
• Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 25 years old as on 1 January 2027.

Salary

• Level-1 posts: Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900 per month (7th CPC Pay Matrix).
• Level-2/3 posts: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 69,100 per month (7th CPC Pay Matrix), depending on the exact level.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Railway rules.

Application Fee

• General category candidates: Rs. 500
• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Women / Minority / Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates: Rs. 250
• Candidates who appear for the selection trials get a partial refund of the application fee (after deduction of banking charges) — you must give your bank details in the online application.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection is done in 2 stages, based only on sports performance and achievement — there is no written test:

1. Trial of Sports Performance: The Trial Committee assesses your game skill, physical fitness, and coach's observations, and awards up to 40 marks. You need at least 25 marks to be declared "FIT" for the next stage.
2. Interview and Assessment: Only "FIT" candidates go through the Recruitment Committee's interview, where up to 50 marks are given for recognized sports achievements and 10 marks for educational qualification (total 60 marks).

Your final merit is based on the combined score out of 100 marks (40 from Trial + 60 from Interview).

• Take part in selection trials, coaching camps, and championships as directed by NFR
• Mentor and support junior sportspersons within the Railway sports system
• Maintain discipline and follow all railway service rules and codes of conduct
