MRVC Assistant Manager Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd. (MRVC), a public sector company under the Ministry of Railways, is hiring Assistant Managers in Electrical and Signal & Telecom (S&T) through direct recruitment on a regular basis. MRVC builds and upgrades the Mumbai Suburban rail network and runs with a deliberately small team, so each officer handles a large share of project work. This is not a fresher opening — you must already be working in railway electrical or signalling work at an Indian Railways unit, a Railway PSU, an RRTS project or a Metro Rail organisation.

Posts and Disciplines

• Assistant Manager (Electrical): for engineers from the 25 kV AC traction Overhead Equipment (OHE) and Power Supply Installation (PSI) side. A postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or Electrical & Electronics Engineering gives you extra credit.
• Assistant Manager (S&T): for engineers working in railway signalling and telecommunications with an Electronics, E&TC or E&C degree. A PG in Electronics and Communication, Telecom, S&T Engineering or Information Technology counts as an added advantage.

Both posts are unreserved, and prior work on the Mumbai Suburban system earns you extra marks in the selection for either discipline.

Post-wise Duties

Assistant Manager (Electrical)

You will help plan, carry out and commission OHE, PSI and general electrical services works on sanctioned suburban projects. Expect regular site supervision, checks against approved drawings and safety rules, and close follow-up of contractor progress and testing.

Assistant Manager (S&T)

You will oversee installation and commissioning of electronic interlocking, train detection systems, optical fibre links and telecom networks. Much of the job is coordinating with Railway officials, contractors and consultants to clear interface issues and keep progress reports up to date.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Probation: One year from joining, which can be cut short or extended case by case. You can be discharged during probation without reasons being given.
• Service bond: You sign a bond to finish training and probation and then serve at least five more years. Leaving earlier means refunding training costs, boarding, pay and allowances with 12.5% interest.
• Indemnity bond: You also sign a bond protecting MRVC and the Ministry of Railways from claims if the corporation is wound up.
• Tenure: After confirmation, the job lasts until superannuation at 60 or the winding up of the company, whichever comes first.
• Pay protection: Offered to candidates already working in the E2 grade or above.
• Posting: Anywhere within MRVC's area of operation in the Mumbai region.
• Medical fitness: Your appointment depends on clearing MRVC's pre-employment medical examination.
• No withdrawal: Once you apply, you cannot withdraw your candidature.
• Age cut-off note: The notice gives the age reference as the date of issue in one clause and the closing date in another; the application form asks for your age as on the issue date.

If you work on a regular basis in Indian Railways or a PSU, also hand a copy to your administrative officer so it is forwarded with NOC, vigilance/DAR clearance and APAR gradings through the employer certificate at Annexure-E.
