IITGN Research Associate Plasma Process Modeling Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) is recruiting a Research Associate-I in Plasma Process Modeling for its Electrical Engineering department. The post belongs to the Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Research and Training Hub (SAMARTH), under Principal Investigator Prof. Nihar Ranjan Mohapatra.

SAMARTH combines semiconductor research with workforce development. This project appointment brings plasma-process modelling into that setting, with a research focus on the systems used for semiconductor processing and a training component for students, researchers and industry professionals.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: The appointment is for one year. An extension is possible if your performance is satisfactory, so continuation beyond the initial period depends on that review.

• Develop reactor-scale models for capacitively and inductively coupled plasma systems.
• Simulate plasma generation, electromagnetic fields, particle transport, gas flow, heat transfer and plasma chemistry.
• Model plasma etching and deposition, including surface reactions and material removal or growth.
• Predict feature profiles, selectivity, aspect-ratio effects and microloading during etching and deposition.
• Calibrate simulations against process data, plasma diagnostics and wafer measurements.
• Prepare technical reports, operating procedures, research papers and presentations.
• Train students, researchers and industry professionals in plasma-process modelling.
