IIT Madras Senior Project Officer Recruitment 2026 - 6 Posts

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), through its Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (IC&SR), has released Advertisement No. ICSR/PR/Advt.87/2026 dated 14 May 2026. These posts are at the Silicon Photonics Centre of Excellence (CPPICS) under Prof. Bijoy Krishna Das of the Department of Electrical Engineering. These are contract posts — initially for one year and extendable up to five years based on performance. Hands-on experience with SPICE modeling, TCAD simulation, and PIC/EIC tapeout is required.

Vacancy Breakdown by Team

Total vacancies: 6. Selected candidates will work in one of these R&D teams:

• PDK and EPDA Team: Oversee PDK and EPDA framework, define component library structure, ensure process-design correlation, and run TCAD-based simulation and SPICE modeling
• PIC Design and Simulation Team: Photonic integrated circuit design, modeling, optical simulations, and performance verification
• Packaging and Assembly Team: Photonics chip packaging, design rule development for co-packaged optics, process integration
• Electronics IC Design and Tapeout Team: Analog and mixed-signal building blocks for high-speed SerDes, IC tapeout, post-silicon validation, and mentoring junior team members

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Undergraduate degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering / Applied Physics or related discipline with 3 years of experience in industry or in an equivalent R&D lab, OR
• Postgraduate degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering / Applied Physics or related discipline

Required Technical Expertise

• Hands-on experience with SPICE modeling and TCAD simulation
• Experience in photonics device design, modeling, and circuit simulations
• PIC and EIC tapeout experience is required

Preferred Skills

• Experience in photonic and/or electronic device/circuit characterizations
• Analog and mixed-signal circuit design experience

Other Requirements

• You must be a citizen of India.
• If you are working on an IIT Madras project, apply through proper channel with a No-Objection Certificate.

Salary

• Consolidated salary: Rs. 1,25,000 to Rs. 1,50,000 per month (depending on qualifications and experience)
• 5% increment every year

Selection Process

Selection is based on shortlisting followed by a test or interview:

1. Shortlisting: Based on qualifications, experience, and academic record from the online application.
2. Written / Skill Test / Interview: The Institute decides the mode of screening. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

There is no published written exam pattern — selection is purely merit-based with focus on PIC/EIC tapeout experience and depth of photonics/IC design background.
