IIT Gandhinagar Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) has released a notification (Advt. No. SPON/10389/Advt0244, dated 1 July 2026) for 1 Project Associate-I post under Principal Investigator Prof. Sharad Gupta. The work is part of a research project on mapping harmful changes to the Tau protein in Alzheimer's disease and clearing them using nanobody-based E3 ligase chimeras. This is a strong opportunity if you want hands-on research experience in biophysics and protein chemistry at one of India's top technology institutes.

This is a temporary position for 1 year, which can be extended based on your performance and the needs of the project. Because it is a project (contract) role, it suits people who want focused, full-time research experience for a fixed period rather than a permanent post.

What You Will Work On

As the Project Associate-I, you will mainly work on peptide synthesis and biophysical characterization of proteins and peptides linked to Alzheimer's disease. You will run spectroscopic and microscopic analysis, organise research data, prepare reports and presentations, keep proper lab records and help the laboratory run smoothly. Most of your time will be spent at the lab bench and on instruments, so a genuine interest in experimental biophysics will help you do well in this role.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have one of the following from a recognised university (or an equivalent degree):
  • A 4-year Bachelor's degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences, or
  • A Master's degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences, or
  • BVSc or B.Pharm, or
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology or Medicine.

Skills That Give You an Edge

• Prior experience with peptide synthesis
• Experience with protein/peptide biophysical characterization methods
• Good communication skills

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on the last date of application (8 July 2026).

Salary

• If you are selected through NET, GATE or a national-level exam: Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA of Rs. 11,100 (about Rs. 48,100 per month in total).
• For all other candidates: Rs. 30,000 per month plus HRA of Rs. 9,000 (about Rs. 39,000 per month in total).
• HRA is paid at 30% of the base amount as per rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. The steps are:
