The Women and Child Development Department, Gujarat is taking on Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers (Tedagar) for the Anganwadi centres run by the ICDS branch of Surat Municipal Corporation in 2026-27. This is honorary service under the centrally sponsored Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme — the women picked serve the centre in their own neighbourhood and draw a monthly honorarium, not a government pay scale. The drive spreads across 30 wards and 10 ICDS units, and every seat is filled from a merit list drawn up centre by centre, so you compete only with the other women who chose the same Anganwadi.

Posts and Disciplines

• Anganwadi Worker (Karyakar): the woman who runs a single Anganwadi centre in her own ward. This is the senior of the two roles and carries the higher schooling bar.
• Anganwadi Helper (Tedagar): the support role at the same centre, open to women with basic schooling.

You choose one centre and one role when you apply — the portal will not let you spread a single application across several Anganwadis. A woman already serving as a Tedagar may also come forward for the Worker role under the department's priority norms, which carry their own relaxed age ceiling.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Women only: the advertisement is open only to women.
• Local residence: you must actually live in the ward area of the centre you pick, and the only proof the department accepts is the prescribed-format certificate issued by the Mamlatdar through a Jan Seva Kendra. No other residence document counts.
• Cut-off: the closing day of the application window is also the cut-off for age and schooling, so every condition must already be met on that day — qualifying later does not help.
• Honorary engagement: this is manpower taken on honorary service, and it does not carry the status or service benefits of a regular government post.
• Wrong or unclear details: if anything you submit turns out to be false or unreadable at any stage, your application can be cancelled and no representation against it will be heard.
