MPPGCL Graduate and Technician Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) is taking in Graduate Apprentices and Technician Apprentices for one year of training at the Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station (SGTPS), Birsinghpur, in Umaria district, under advertisement No. 511-0100/SE(TRG)/GA-TA 2026-27/246 dated 16 September 2026. The engagement runs under the Apprenticeship Act and the office of the Superintending Engineer (Training) at the plant handles it end to end. This is training at a working coal-fired generating station, not a job offer — but it puts fresh engineering and general-stream graduates inside a live power plant for a full year, which is exactly the exposure state power utilities look for later.

Posts and Disciplines

• Graduate Apprentice — Mechanical Engineering: for candidates holding a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology from a recognised university.
• Graduate Apprentice — Electrical Engineering: for degree holders in Electrical Engineering or Technology.
• Graduate Apprentice — Electrical and Electronics Engineering: for degree holders in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Technology.
• Graduate Apprentice — General Stream: the stream that is easy to miss. It is open to B.Pharm, BCA, B.A., B.Com and B.Sc graduates, so you do not need an engineering background to train here.
• Technician Apprentice — Mechanical, Electrical, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering: for diploma holders in the matching branch from an institution recognised by Madhya Pradesh Technical Education.

Every seat is tied to the branch you name on the form, and only applications from candidates who have passed in the branches listed above are accepted for selection. Reservation for SC, ST and OBC candidates follows the provisions of the Apprenticeship Act.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the training runs for 12 months under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act, 1973 and 1986, and ends there.
• No job at the end: MPPGCL is under no obligation to give an appointment once the training finishes, and the apprentice is under no obligation to work for the employer afterwards. Go in for the experience and the certificate.
• Selection is on marks: apprentices are picked from a merit list of the marks scored in their own branch — there is no written test and no interview.
• Agreement on stamp paper: the apprenticeship agreement has to be executed on Rs. 500 stamp paper and handed to the training office.
• Insurance you arrange yourself: every selected apprentice must take accident insurance cover of at least Rs. 1 lakh for safety and leave a copy of the policy with the office.
• Safety gear and living arrangements: helmet, gloves, safety shoes and goggles are the apprentice's own responsibility, and so are accommodation and daily travel to the plant.
• Health and character checks: a medical certificate from a government hospital and a police character certificate are compulsory, and the originals go to the training office.
• Leave: during the training year you are entitled to 13 days of casual leave and 10 days of medical leave, besides the weekly offs.
• The company can cancel: MPPGCL has kept the right to select or reject any apprentice without giving a reason.

If you post it by ordinary mail, write the branch you are applying for and your category clearly on the envelope as well. MPPGCL takes no responsibility for an application that arrives late, goes missing, or is torn or destroyed in transit, and anything that reaches the office after the last date is not considered. An incomplete or incorrect form, or a form without the required self-attested copies, is cancelled outright with no correspondence entertained.
