TNPDCL Diploma Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) is taking on Diploma (Technician) Apprentices for one year of training under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973. The Board of Apprenticeship Training, Southern Region (BOAT-SR), Chennai runs the selection, and every application goes through the national NATS portal.

The drive is open to engineering diploma holders from Tamil Nadu who passed between 2022 and May 2026. Most of the training seats are in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, so EEE diploma holders have the widest opening. This is paid training, not a permanent job, but a year at the state's power distribution company is a practical start if you want to work in the power sector.

Posts and Disciplines

• Electrical and Electronics Engineering: by far the largest group of seats in this notification, for EEE diploma holders.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering: a smaller group of seats for ECE diploma holders.
• Computer Engineering / Information Technology: the smallest group, open to diploma holders in either Computer Engineering or IT.

All three disciplines need a regular, full-time diploma in the matching subject. TNPDCL says it may increase or reduce the number of seats, whatever the notification lists.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tamil Nadu candidates only: The notification is open only to diploma holders who hail from Tamil Nadu.
• No higher qualifications: B.E., B.Tech and higher degree holders are not considered for these diploma seats.
• No earlier apprenticeship: If you have already done, or are now doing, an apprenticeship under NATS 2.0 or NAPS, or a PMIS internship, or you have one year or more of work experience, you cannot apply.
• Ward quota: Up to 10% of the seats are reserved horizontally for children of regular (permanent) employees of TNEB Limited, TNPDCL, TNPGCL, TNGECL and TANTRANSCO. Children of contract, temporary, casual or retired employees do not qualify. Any ward seats left unfilled go to other candidates.
• Reservation certificates: SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwD reservation follows the Apprentices Act guidelines. Without a certificate in the government format, you are treated as General. BC/MBC candidates claiming OBC must bring an OBC (NCL) certificate in the approved central format.
• No job guarantee: TNPDCL and its sister companies have no obligation to employ you after the training, and you cannot claim a job on that basis.
• Travel and stay: No TA/DA is paid for attending certificate verification, and no boarding or lodging costs are covered.
• Beware of touts: BOAT-SR has not authorised any person or agency to act for it. Canvassing or pressure from any source cancels your candidature.

Application Submission Notes

You apply only through the Student login on nats.education.gov.in. Your starting point depends on whether you are already enrolled:

• Enrolled on the old portal (mhrdnats.gov.in): use Forgot Password with your registered email on the new portal, reset your password, complete the form and get your 12-digit enrolment number. Then apply.
• Already enrolled on the new portal: log in, search for TAMIL NADU POWER DISTRIBUTION CORPORATION LIMITED (TNPDCL) under Apply against advertised vacancies, and click apply. The status should show "applied".
• First-time users: register as a student first. Once enrolment is complete, apply in the same way.

Enter your diploma percentage in the "% of marks" column. If you leave it blank, your application will not be considered.
