ICAR Senior Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is hiring a Senior Consultant Grade I for the Hindi Editorial Unit of its Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (DKMA), New Delhi. The unit turns agricultural research into well-edited books, journals, magazines, reports and other knowledge products for farmers, researchers, students and extension workers. This is a specialist editorial assignment, not a general administrative consultancy.

Your work would connect scientific accuracy with clear Hindi communication. The unit receives material from authors, scientists and institutions across the National Agricultural Research and Education System, so the consultant must be comfortable coordinating with several contributors while protecting ICAR's publication standards. Hindi editing, proofreading and two-way Hindi-English translation are central to the role.

The consultant will also help improve the flow from manuscript review to print-ready or electronic publication. Experience with agricultural or allied-science material matters because technical meaning must remain accurate while the language becomes easier to read. The assignment also calls for practical use of office, publishing and design software in day-to-day editorial work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial contract runs for three years and may be extended one year at a time for up to two more years. Continuation after the third year depends on a satisfactory annual performance review.
• Nature of engagement: This is full-time, time-bound and non-regular work under the Unit In-charge and the administrative control of the Project Director, ICAR-DKMA. It does not create a right to absorption into a regular ICAR post.
• Outside work: The consultant cannot hold another appointment or accept outside work during the engagement.
• Working arrangement: Normal hours match ICAR's regular office schedule, but work may occasionally extend beyond office hours or fall on a weekend or gazetted holiday without extra pay.
• Leave: The terms provide pro-rata annual leave, restricted holidays and limited compensatory leave. Unused annual leave does not carry forward to the next calendar year.
• Intellectual property: ICAR keeps the proprietary rights over research output created during the assignment, while authorship acknowledgement remains subject to the competent authority's decision.
• Termination: Either party may normally end the contract with thirty days' written notice or one month's pay in place of notice. ICAR-DKMA can act immediately in cases of serious misconduct or a confidentiality breach.
• Benefits: The consultant does not receive regular-staff provident fund, CGELIS, medical reimbursement or residential accommodation benefits.
