Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is building a project team for AI-based Procurement RFx Automation for NRL Refinery - Phase 2 in its Department of Chemical Engineering. Posts and Disciplines

• Domain Expert - Procurement: connects government and institutional purchasing rules with the project's digital workflows, including tender documents, bid evaluation and compliance records.
• Consultant: guides the AI work around language models, retrieval-augmented generation, document intelligence and model evaluation for procurement use cases.
• Project Manager: coordinates product, engineering, AI, quality and client-side teams while keeping delivery plans, risks and governance reviews on track.
• Software Quality Assurance Engineer: builds automation coverage for web and REST API features and maintains clear defect and release-readiness records.

Post-wise Duties

Domain Expert - Procurement

You will map GeM, CPP Portal and offline procurement processes into clear digital requirements. Your work will help the technical team handle RFx documents, purchase and work orders, comparative statements and approval records without losing the compliance checks used in public procurement.

Consultant

You will advise the team on SLM and LLM architecture, fine-tuning, RAG and evaluation. You will also review how procurement documents move through the AI workflow and help the developers improve model accuracy, validation and enterprise deployment.

Project Manager

You will manage the end-to-end technology delivery, from requirement gathering and planning through monitoring, release and closure. The role also covers cross-functional coordination, risk registers, resource plans, stakeholder communication and governance reporting.

Software Quality Assurance Engineer

You will create and run automated web and API tests using tools such as Playwright, Selenium or Cypress. You will maintain test plans, regression suites and defect reports, and support release validation through the project's CI/CD workflow.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: the initial appointment is for eleven months and may be extended up to eighteen months or the project's end, subject to the institute's decision.
• Role-specific screening: general administration or basic IT support alone will not meet the experience standard; the institute expects direct experience in the specialist work named for each post.
• Interview mode: the main interaction is online through Google Meet, and the link is shared only with shortlisted applicants.
• Further checks: the institute may ask shortlisted or provisionally selected applicants to visit once for an in-person interaction, document check, technical assessment or joining formalities.
