GSL Manager Recruitment 2026: Overview

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), the Ministry of Defence shipyard at Vasco-da-Gama that designs and builds ships for the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard and friendly foreign navies, is hiring experienced professionals for its executive cadre under Advertisement No. 06/2026. The drive runs from Junior Manager right up to Chief General Manager and covers finance, naval architecture, HR, safety, engineering, IT, legal, Hindi, public relations and ship repair.

The advert has two separate parts. Part A has 18 regular posts, some of which carry backlog reserved vacancies. Part B has six fixed-term posts for senior HR, business development, technical, ship repair and civil roles — these are contract jobs, not regular ones. This is a lateral-entry drive, so every post asks for real post-qualification experience; it is not meant for fresh graduates.

Posts and Disciplines

Part A: Regular Posts

• Finance (CGM, AGM, Deputy Manager): for Chartered Accountants or Cost Accountants who have handled annual accounts, audits, treasury, taxation and payroll; one Deputy Manager (Finance) post is reserved for a hard-of-hearing PwBD candidate.
• Naval Architecture (AGM / DGM): for B.E./B.Tech Naval Architecture engineers with ship structure and hull design experience on tools such as AVEVA Marine/Tribon, NAPA and FEA software.
• Human Resources (AGM): for HR, IR or social work postgraduates who have run personnel policy, industrial relations and labour law compliance.
• Safety (Manager and Junior Manager): for engineers or diploma holders with an Industrial Safety diploma from CLI/RLI or a safety postgraduate degree.
• Public Relations (Manager): for mass communication postgraduates with strong Hindi and English writing skills.
• Deputy Manager engineering streams: Electrical, Technical (Mechanical/Production/Industrial/Marine), Digital Design and Additive Manufacturing, Welding and Automation, HVACR, and Marketing and Costing.
• Deputy Manager (Information Technology, Rajbhasha, Legal): for MCA or CS/IT engineers, Hindi specialists, and LLB holders enrolled with a State Bar Council.
• Junior Manager (Coordination – Delhi Office): a liaison post based at GSL's Delhi office for candidates with long Armed Forces service.

Part B: Fixed Term Posts

• CGM (HR&A): the top HR and administration role, needing senior-level HR/IR experience.
• CGM/GM (Business Development) and CGM/GM (Technical): for engineers from Mechanical, Production, Electronics, Electrical or Naval Architecture backgrounds with shipbuilding or ship repair leadership experience.
• DGM and Deputy Manager (Ship Repairs): for engineers who have run refits and repairs of Naval and Coast Guard ships; Naval Officers of Commander rank and above with dockyard experience may also be considered for the DGM post.
• Manager (Civil): for civil or structural engineers who have managed EPC infrastructure sites; port and marine works such as berths, jetties and dry docks are preferred.

Post-wise Duties

Finance Posts

You will look after annual accounts, audits, budgeting, treasury and taxation for a defence shipyard, including GST and TDS compliance, vendor payments and vetting of procurement proposals.

Technical and Engineering Posts

Your work will sit inside live warship and patrol-vessel projects — ship design drawings and specifications, electrical power house and substation upkeep, HVAC systems on naval vessels, robotic welding, 3D design and additive manufacturing, or tender costing, depending on your stream.

Ship Repair and Civil Posts

You will handle refits and repairs of Navy and Coast Guard ships — defect lists, repair cost estimates and hull work — or supervise construction of yard infrastructure under EPC contracts.

Support Function Posts

HR, PR, IT, Legal and Rajbhasha officers will run personnel and labour matters, media and social media content, ERP and network systems, contract drafting and court pleadings, and Hindi promotion and publications respectively.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed term means fixed term: Part B posts run for three years, extendable by up to two more years, and end automatically. GSL gives no promise of a regular job afterwards.
• Lower grade offer: If you apply for AGM (Naval Architecture) or CGM (Business Development/Technical), GSL may offer you the grade just below instead.
• Experience in the lower grade: Government and PSU employees need two years of service in the pay scale just below the post. Private sector candidates applying for GM/CGM posts need their last two years in a company with an annual turnover of at least Rs 100 crore.
• NOC: Government and PSU employees applying for regular posts must apply through proper channel or bring a No Objection Certificate; fixed-term applicants do not need one.
• Posting: GSL can deploy you to any location or department, whatever post you were selected for.
• Travel allowance: Outstation candidates called for interview get travel costs by the shortest route, but waitlisted rail tickets are not reimbursed.
• Reserved candidates applying for UR posts are treated as General and get no relaxation.
