Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC) is engaging a Deputy General Manager for Coal Gasification to provide senior site leadership for its coal and lignite gasification projects in Gujarat and Odisha. The position sits in the PPD/Tech-IV division and reports to the General Manager, placing it at the centre of coordination between GMDC, the technology partner, consultants, EPC contractors and vendors. This is a full-time contractual leadership assignment tied to the development and commissioning of gasification facilities.

The role is designed for a professional who can keep a complex industrial project moving across several technical and commercial interfaces. GMDC expects one accountable site-level contact who can turn project requirements into workable plans, keep partners aligned and raise issues through a clear escalation route. The assignment spans early project studies, pilot activity, construction readiness, commissioning and the move towards stable operations, so your judgement will matter throughout the project cycle.

You should also be comfortable working in an environment where safety, statutory compliance and schedule control carry equal weight. The projects involve surveys, drilling, sampling, procurement and site mobilisation across more than one location. Regular travel and stays at project sites are part of the assignment, and the selected professional must be ready to work closely with both office teams and field teams.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract tenure: The initial term is 3 years. GMDC may extend it by up to 1 year based on functional need, performance appraisal and medical fitness.
• No regular appointment: The engagement does not create any right to a permanent or regular post in GMDC.
• Facilities: The contract does not carry regular allowances, apart from transport facility and travelling allowance for official tours under GMDC rules.
• Notice period: Either side may end the contract with 1 month's notice. GMDC may also end it immediately by paying one month's consolidated pay instead of notice.
• Mobility: You must be willing to be stationed at project sites in Gujarat or Odisha and travel between locations when project work needs it.
• Recruitment discretion: GMDC may cancel the advertisement or stop the engagement process at any stage without selecting a candidate.
