DLSA Kanpur Nagar Panel Lawyer Recruitment 2026: Overview

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kanpur Nagar is building a fresh panel of Panel Lawyers (nāmika adhivakta) for the district. The authority works under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, following directions from the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and the District Judge, Kanpur Nagar, who chairs the DLSA. If you are a practising advocate who wants to argue cases for people who cannot afford a lawyer, this panel is your way in.

Panel lawyers take up court cases and give free legal advice and aid to poor and helpless people under the free and competent legal services scheme. You will also help carry out NALSA's various legal-aid schemes in the district.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Term: Empanelment runs for three years and can be extended year by year if your work is found satisfactory.
• Practice experience: You need more than three years of active practice as an advocate.
• Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply.
• State criteria: You must also meet the detailed eligibility laid down by the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Lucknow.
• Bar Council: The form asks for your Uttar Pradesh Bar Council registration number, year and date, and whether you practise at the district headquarters or a tehsil.
• Final say: All rights on selection rest with the Chairman, DLSA Kanpur Nagar.

Application Submission Notes

Fill the prescribed application form and deliver it to the DLSA office, Kanpur Nagar by hand, ordinary post or speed post before 5:00 PM on the closing day. Write the post name on the envelope — applications without it will not be accepted. The DLSA is not responsible for postal delays.

Attach a self-addressed envelope with a Rs. 25 postage stamp, showing your name, father's name, address, mobile number and email ID, so the interview date can be sent to you by post. The form and detailed guidelines can be downloaded from the Kanpur Nagar district court website, the Allahabad High Court website and the UP State Legal Services Authority website.

The interview date will be fixed later by the District Judge and posted on the DLSA notice board and the district court and High Court websites, so keep checking them.
