Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a listed Miniratna Schedule 'A' company of the Government of India, has released Notification No. CSL/P&A/RECTT/CANSRU CONT/NOTIFICATION-12/PA(OFFICE)/2026/1 for 1 Project Assistant (Office) post at its CSL AN Ship Repair Unit (CANSRU) in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This post is reserved only for candidates domiciled in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, so only local domicile holders should apply. The role is on a fixed-term contract for a maximum of 5 years, and candidates with a shipyard, engineering, commercial or government office background are encouraged to apply. Once appointed, you carry an obligation to serve any CSL department, ship or work site anywhere in India or abroad, and CSL reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel the recruitment for this post based on its requirements.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Pass in a 3-year Bachelor's Degree in Arts (excluding fine arts/performing arts), Commerce, Science, Computer Applications, or Business Administration with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in a shipyard, engineering company, commercial organisation, or government/semi-government establishment, counted as on 31 August 2026.
• Desirable: Knowledge of computer applications like AutoCAD, SAP, MS Project, or MS Office.
• Domicile: Only candidates domiciled in Andaman & Nicobar Islands are eligible for this post.
• If you are already working in CSL on contract and are in your final year of contract, you can also apply. Candidates in their first or second year of contract are not eligible.
• OBC candidates (Non-Creamy Layer) must produce a valid, recent community certificate issued by a Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tahsildar.
• EWS candidates must produce a valid Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format.
• PwBD candidates need a minimum of 40% disability and must submit a valid disability certificate as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 45 years as on 31 August 2026 (you must be born on or after 1 September 1981).
• Age Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation. PwBD and Ex-servicemen candidates get relaxation as per Government of India guidelines, but the age after relaxation cannot exceed 50 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 24,400 for meeting the minimum 2 years' experience requirement.
• You will also be paid for extra working hours as per CSL policy. Candidates with more experience than the minimum requirement may be offered a higher consolidated pay.

Selection Process

The selection is done in the following stages:

1. Written Test (Objective Type): 80 MCQs for 80 marks in 90 minutes, covering General Knowledge (5 marks), Reasoning (5 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (10 marks), General English (10 marks) and Discipline-related questions (50 marks). There is no negative marking.
2. Written Test (Descriptive Type): Writing skills test in English for 20 marks in 45 minutes. Only candidates who clear the minimum pass marks fixed by CSL in the Objective test get their Descriptive answer sheets evaluated.
3. Certificate Verification: Candidates who clear the minimum pass marks in the combined 100-mark written test are shortlisted for document verification. You must produce all original certificates to prove the qualification and experience claimed in your application.
4. Medical Examination: Final selection is provisional and subject to medical fitness.

Rank lists are prepared based on the total marks scored in the Objective and Descriptive tests. In case of a tie, marks in the Discipline-related section decide the rank, followed by seniority in age. The test is expected to be held at Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
