CG Agriculture PMFBY SPMU Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Chhattisgarh is setting up a State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to run Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the crop insurance scheme that protects farmers when natural calamities destroy their crops. The unit will give the state technical help with IT support, data management, remote sensing, MIS, monitoring and training, and it is hiring a small specialist team to do that work.

These are temporary engagements up to March 2027, or for whatever period the Directorate later decides or extends. Selection is through a walk-in interview in Nava Raipur, with no written test — your degree, your years of experience and how you present your past work decide the outcome. The roles suit mid-career agriculture, remote sensing and IT professionals who have already worked on government, insurance or large data projects.

Posts and Disciplines

• State Project Officer (State Head): the team leader of the SPMU, meant for an agriculture postgraduate with management training and a long record as a programme or project manager.
• Remote Sensing Specialist: for agronomy, geoinformatics or remote sensing postgraduates who have used GIS and satellite data to estimate crop area and yield.
• Data Analyst and MIS Specialist: for IT graduates who can handle the PMFBY portal data, management reports and user training.
• IT and Technical Specialist: for IT graduates who will look after the SPMU's IT systems and fix technical problems with the portal and the CCE mobile app.

Post-wise Duties

State Project Officer (State Head)

You will lead the SPMU team, plan and monitor every PMFBY activity at the state level, and draw up the annual workplan with the Programme Management Units. You will also hold review meetings, visit the field, check partner reports including financial reports, and give inputs to the scheme's monitoring and evaluation.

Remote Sensing Specialist

You will inspect fields after natural calamities, report on affected insurance units, and help the state run remote sensing studies for crop yield and crop loss. You will also use satellite data to pick better Crop Cutting Experiment (CCE) locations, support mobile-based CCE data collection, and advise on insurance cycles across Chhattisgarh's agro-climatic zones.

Data Analyst and MIS Specialist

You will update the PMFBY portal daily, seasonally and yearly, prepare summary reports, and send data to the Government of India. You will sort out data-entry problems from banks, insurance companies and the CCE app, write user manuals, and train officials, bank staff and insurance personnel.

IT and Technical Specialist

You will manage the SPMU's IT infrastructure, act as the technical resource person for the portal, and fix technical issues raised by banks, insurers and CCE app users. Field visits to district and block offices and IT-focused training for stakeholders are part of the job.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• No regularisation: the engagement lasts only as long as the SPMU needs it and gives no claim to permanency or continuation.
• Not government service: you get no pension, gratuity or other service benefits of regular state employees, and no employer-employee relationship is created.
• Termination: the Directorate can end the engagement at any time without notice.
• Joining: selected candidates must take charge immediately once the engagement order is issued.
• Place of work: you will be stationed at the SPMU office, Indravati Bhawan, Nava Raipur.
• Regular courses only: degrees must come from full-time regular courses of UGC, CSIR, ICAR or AICTE recognised institutions.
• Language: the two IT-side posts need proficiency in English and the local language.
• Interview travel: no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Number of posts: the Directorate may increase, reduce or withdraw any position at any stage.
• Legal: disputes go only to the courts at Raipur.
