About UPSSSC PET
The Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) as the first-stage screening exam for most Group C recruitments in the Uttar Pradesh state government. Candidates must appear in PET to become eligible for the mains examinations and skill tests of the individual recruitments UPSSSC advertises afterwards, and their PET score is used to shortlist applicants for those later stages while it remains valid.
The exam is a single objective paper with multiple-choice questions and negative marking. The syllabus spans Indian history and the national movement, geography, the Indian economy, the constitution and public administration, general science, elementary arithmetic, general Hindi, general English, logical reasoning, current affairs and general awareness, together with the analysis of unseen passages, graphs and tables.
The minimum qualification is high school (10th) pass — though the recruitments that follow may demand higher qualifications of their own — and the typical age band is 18 to 40 years with relaxations for reserved categories as per state government rules.
