The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, is engaging Young Professionals for its East Zone. The work supports the commission’s growth and transformation efforts across Khadi, Village Industries and Audit. These are individual consultancy contracts, with assignments at the zonal office or state offices in the region.

Posts and Disciplines

• Khadi: This stream covers the Eastern Zonal Office in Kolkata and state offices in Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar and Ranchi.
• Village Industries: Assignments are listed at the state offices in Patna, Bhubaneswar and Ranchi.
• Audit: This stream is attached to the State Office and Eastern Zonal Office in Kolkata.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract period: Your initial engagement lasts one year. KVIC may extend it for a further two years after considering your performance and the continuing need for the work; an extension needs a fresh contract.
• Employment status: The consultancy does not make you a KVIC staff member. It creates no right to absorption, regularisation or a later permanent appointment with KVIC or the ministry.
• Office assignment: The competent authority decides where you work among the offices named in the notice. The discipline-wise office list shows the spread of the assignments.
• Working hours: You follow the working hours of regular KVIC employees. Extra work beyond those hours, including holidays, does not earn additional pay.
• Leave: You receive eight days of leave for each consultancy year. Unused leave cannot move into the next yearly term, and intervening weekends or government holidays do not count against this entitlement.
• Confidentiality: Information gained through the assignment must stay confidential. Publishing a book or collection of articles using that information needs KVIC’s prior approval.
• Insurance: You arrange and pay for the insurance needed to meet your contractual obligations, including any life or health cover you choose for the engagement.
• Ending the contract: The notice provides for one month’s notice to end the engagement. It also allows discontinuation where services are unsatisfactory or conflict with KVIC’s interests.
• Conduct: Canvassing, false information or attempts to influence the process can lead to cancellation. KVIC also retains the right to change advertised conditions or cancel the exercise.
• Application corrections: After final submission, you cannot change your application unless KVIC specifically enables corrections. Multiple applications for the same post may lead to rejection.
• Communication: Keep your registered email active for at least one year. Recruitment messages are sent electronically, and updates or amendments appear on the official website.
• Joining from another organisation: Serving government or public-sector staff must be properly released by their parent organisation before joining.
