LU Young Professional and Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Centre for Development and Policy Research (CDPR) at the University of Lucknow (LU) is hiring research staff for a project funded by the State Transformation Commission, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Two roles are open: Young Professional and Research Assistant. The project feeds into district rankings and development and economic survey reports, so most of the work mixes desk analysis with fieldwork in the districts the project covers.

This is a contractual project engagement for 11 months, not a regular university post. If you hold a postgraduate degree in a social science, statistics or management and enjoy collecting data from blocks and villages, this drive is worth a look. Both posts close on the same date and use the same email route.

Posts and Disciplines

• Young Professional: the senior of the two roles. You lead research work and teams, deal directly with the CDPR Director and the project consultants, and help write the reports. NET qualification is part of the essential eligibility for this post.
• Research Assistant: a survey-focused role. You lead the survey and profiling work, guide field teams and contribute to report writing. NET and development-sector experience are only desirable here, not compulsory.
• Disciplines accepted for both: postgraduates in any social science, statistics or management discipline.

Post-wise Duties

Young Professional

You will lead the research effort, supervise field teams and coordinate with the Director and consultants. You will run field surveys and in-depth interviews in the assigned districts, help rank districts and prepare economic survey or development reports, and co-author journal articles from the project's findings.

Research Assistant

You will lead the survey and profiling work, guide the teams on the ground and add your part to the project reports. You will also help with the district ranking and development report work. Both roles expect you to handle data in MS Office or Google Suite and statistical packages such as SPSS or Stata.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement is purely contractual for a period of 11 months under the funded project.
• Performance-linked pay: The appointment is temporary, and payment depends on satisfactory performance.
• No regularisation: Selected candidates have no claim to a regular or further contractual post at the centre once the project ends.
• Interview travel: Only shortlisted candidates are called for the interview, and no TA/DA is paid for attending it.
• Final decision: The selection committee's decision is final.
