IIFT Consultant HR Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a deemed university and business school set up by the Department of Commerce, Government of India, wants a seasoned establishment hand to run the day-to-day work of its HR Division at the New Delhi campus as Consultant (HR). This is a contract engagement aimed at retired government administrators who have already handled recruitment, promotions and service matters in a government office, autonomous body or university.

The work covers the whole establishment cycle of the institute: hiring teaching and non-teaching staff, promotions and MACP cases, reservation rosters, seniority lists, court cases on service matters and replies to Parliament questions. You would also prepare HR agenda papers for the Board of Management, so a sound grip on GFR, FR and SR, MACPS guidelines and pay fixation is expected from day one.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Retired officers only: You should have retired from Central Government, a State Government, an autonomous body, a university or a reputed government educational institute at or above the senior pay level the notice sets.
• Tenure: The first engagement runs for one year. It can be extended on performance and the institute's needs, but the total engagement cannot go beyond four years.
• Pay depends on profile: The consolidated pay is fixed according to your experience and qualifications, and IIFT says a higher amount may be offered to a deserving candidate.
• No regular appointment: The contract gives you no right or claim to a regular job at IIFT.
• Immediate joining: If selected, you must join duty immediately after you receive the offer.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the conditions does not guarantee a call. If many people apply, IIFT can shortlist in any way it finds suitable and will not give reasons for rejection.
• Post may not be filled: IIFT can increase, reduce or leave the post unfilled, and the committee's decision on shortlisting and selection is final.
• Work style: The institute expects you to keep to strict timelines and work fluently on a computer with MS Office.
