DEA Assistant Library and Information Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Ministry of Finance is filling the post of Assistant Library and Information Officer (ALIO) in its Finance Library in New Delhi. This is a General Central Service Group 'B', Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post, and it is being filled on deputation — so it is meant for officers who already hold a government job, not for fresh job seekers.

If you are a librarian in a Central or State Government office, a Union Territory administration, a PSU, a university or a research institute and want a three-year stint in a central ministry library, this opening fits you. The original circular came out in July 2026 and appeared in Employment News (8-14 August 2026); the department has since given more time to apply.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who qualifies on deputation: You must be an officer of the Central Government, a State Government or a Union Territory administration who either holds an analogous post on a regular basis, or has five years of regular service in a post one pay level below this one or equivalent, and also meets the library qualification and experience rules.
• Deputation term: Three years. Any deputation you held in another ex-cadre post just before this one counts towards the same three-year ceiling.
• Feeder-grade officers: Departmental officers in the feeder grade who are in the direct line of promotion cannot be considered on deputation, and a deputationist cannot later be considered for promotion to this post.
• Proper channel only: Your application must come through your employer with all the certificates. Direct applications or incomplete sets are not considered.
• Release on selection: Your department should be able to relieve you immediately if you are selected.
• No withdrawal: Once you apply, you cannot withdraw your candidature later.
• Form title: The bio-data proforma in Annexure-I is headed Composite Method (Deputation / Promotion), while the circular itself fills the post on deputation — use the proforma as printed.

Application Submission Notes

Fill the bio-data proforma (Annexure-I) and get your employer to sign the forwarding certificate (Annexure-II). The July circular names North Block as the building, while the department's later circulars, including the extension, are issued from Kartavya Bhawan-1. Check the current address with the Admn-VI section on 011-2401 2872 before your office posts the papers.

Corrigenda and Notices

• Circular dated 28 September 2026: the department extended the last date for applications by 30 days from 6 October 2026, so willing officers can still send their forwarded applications.
