ND Mumbai Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Naval Dockyard Mumbai (ND Mumbai), Indian Navy, is enrolling apprentices at its Dockyard Apprentice School in Mumbai. This drive covers designated trades under the Apprentices Act and Apprentices Rules, with training routes for ITI holders and school-qualified applicants.

You will enter a fixed-duration apprenticeship in your selected trade. The notice clearly separates this training opportunity from a later appointment: completing the programme does not create a right to a job at the dockyard.

Posts and Disciplines

• Electrical and electronics: Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Industrial Electronics, Mechanic Embedded System and PLC, and Mechanic Mechatronics are separate training trades.
• Computing and communication: Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Programming and Systems Administration Assistant, and Information and Communication Technology System Maintenance form the computing-related group.
• Precision and machine trades: Advance Mechanic Instruments, Instrument Mechanic, Machinist, Operator Advance Machine Tool and Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance cover distinct technical streams.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training duration: Most trades run for one year. Shipwright Steel and Rigger run for two years, Pattern Maker for 18 months, and Crane Operator Overhead for 15 months.
• Employment after training: The dockyard does not have to offer you employment after completion. If it offers a job, you are not bound to accept it; any later Tradesman Skilled recruitment follows its own rules.
• Existing apprenticeship: If you are already training with another organisation, the notice asks you to end that apprenticeship contract on the MSDE portal before applying and meet any applicable cooling-down condition.
• Multiple trades: You may choose more than one suitable trade in the same application. Exam timings may overlap, and you may have to choose one trade if tests fall in the same shift.
