MCD Junior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is hiring Junior Residents (MBBS) for Hindu Rao Hospital and North DMC Medical College at Malka Ganj, Delhi. These are contract residencies for six months under the hospital's Residency Scheme, and selection happens through a single walk-in interview day — there is no written test and no online form.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first term is six months. Only MBBS candidates can get one further six-month extension (one year in total), and only after a satisfactory work and conduct report.
• No regular-service benefits: You get the pay level and usual allowances, but no Provident Fund, pension, gratuity, medical treatment, seniority or promotion that regular government staff receive.
• List A and List B: Candidates who have not done one year of Junior Residency in any government hospital and finished internship less than two years ago go on List A. Everyone else goes on List B, and List B is used only after List A is exhausted.
• Delhi Medical Council registration: You must be registered with the Delhi Medical Council to be eligible.
• Cut-off for eligibility: Qualification and experience are counted up to the date of the interview.
• Working doctors: If you are in service, bring a No Objection Certificate from your head of institution; without it you will not be allowed into the interview.
• Disability reservation: 4% of sanctioned seats in eligible specialties are kept for Persons with Disability, and one post is reserved for a candidate with one arm or one leg affected in a non-surgical branch, subject to suitability.
• OBC and EWS certificates: OBC candidates need a Government of India OBC certificate showing non-creamy layer for the current financial year; EWS candidates need a valid income and asset certificate for the current year in the Annexure B format.
• Post count can change: The number of posts may go up or down, or be withdrawn completely, at any stage.
• Discipline: A doctor found guilty of gross misconduct or negligence can be terminated without notice or pay in lieu of notice.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and the interview fee is non-refundable.
