IISER Bhopal IPDF Biological Sciences Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) is hiring an Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF) for its Department of Biological Sciences. You will join Prof. Sanjeev Shukla’s Epigenetics and RNA Processing Laboratory for a fixed-term research fellowship in Bhopal.

The project studies how hypoxia-driven changes in metabolism affect epigenetic regulation and cancer-specific alternative splicing in triple-negative breast cancer. Its scope connects histone acetylation and lactylation switches with CTCF-dependent chromatin organisation, using hypoxia models, chromatin profiling, splicing analysis and functional testing of isoforms.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fellowship term: The initial appointment lasts one year. An additional year may be offered after the institute reviews your annual performance, so you should not treat an extension as automatic.
• Pending degree: If you join after submitting your thesis, you must provide your provisional or final PhD certificate within six months of appointment. Missing this requirement may lead to cancellation, or a decision made with the authority processing your thesis.
• Leave and outpatient care: The institute applies its postgraduate student rules to the fellowship’s leave and outpatient medical facilities. These arrangements follow the institute’s PG Manual.
• Medical insurance: You must keep medical insurance in your own name throughout the fellowship, with cover of at least Rs. 1 lakh. The institute does not provide medical reimbursement.
• Accommodation: IISER Bhopal will not provide accommodation for this fellowship. You will need to account for this condition when considering the appointment.
• Communication: The institute will not respond to interim enquiries or correspondence about the recruitment.
