The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi has issued Web-Notice 18/2026 dated 20 May 2026, extending the last date for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET) 2026 online application from 21 May 2026 to 02 June 2026.

About JHTET 2026

JHTET (also known as JTET) is the state-level Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council to assess candidates' eligibility for appointment as teachers in Jharkhand government elementary schools.

Eligibility

  • Paper I (Primary Level): Candidates with Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Paper II (Upper Primary Level): Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed.

Responsibilities

  • Teach primary or upper primary lessons after appointment under the applicable Jharkhand school rules.
  • Maintain class records, attendance, and learning progress for assigned students.
  • Prepare lesson plans based on the approved state syllabus for classes 1 to 5 or 6 to 8.
  • Support classroom assessment, remedial learning, and student participation activities.
  • Follow school-level instructions, child-safety expectations, and academic calendars.
  • Assist with education department reporting and school activities when assigned.

Exam Pattern

JHTET 2026 has 2 levels: Level 1 for classes 1 to 5 and Level 2 for classes 6 to 8. You can appear for one level or both levels based on your qualification.

  • Exam duration: 2 hours 30 minutes for each level.
  • Extra time: 30 additional minutes for eligible visually impaired, Cerebral Palsy, and both-hands-disabled applicants using scribe support.
  • Question type: Objective and multiple-choice questions on OMR sheet.
  • Languages: Question papers will be in Hindi and English; language subject papers will be in the concerned language.
  • Negative marking: No negative marking is mentioned in the notice.
  • Qualifying marks: 60% for General/EWS, 55% for BC-1/BC-2, and 52% for SC/ST/PVTG/PwD.
