ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi is hiring 1 Young Professional-I (YP-1) on a contract basis under the Division of Nematology. ICAR-IARI Young Professional-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post (Division of Nematology)
ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi has released a notification (File No. ICAR/IARI/Nema/2026-27/83 dated 15-05-2026) for 1 Young Professional-I position under the contractual research project titled "Coordinated studies on the efficacy of oil-based Bio-Nematicide formulation against Root Knot Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) in Tomato under in-vitro, pot and field conditions". The project is purely temporary and will end after one year — the post is co-terminus with the project. Selection is through a walk-in interview only — there is no written exam.
Who Can Apply?
Essential Qualification
- B.Sc in Agricultural Sciences from a recognised university — includes all Agricultural and Allied Sciences such as Crop Science, Horticultural Science, etc.
Desirable Qualifications (Preference will be given)
- Experience of working with vegetable crops, laboratory work, and use of microscopes — especially on plant-parasitic nematodes
- Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis
Other Requirements
- Age relaxation is given to Women, SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates as per Government norms.
- If you are currently employed, you must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your present employer.
- If any near or distant relative is employed at ICAR/IARI, you must declare it in writing with your application.
Salary
- You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 30,000 per month as per ICAR Office Memorandum File No. Agril. Edu. (12)/2023-A&P (e-251411) dated 7.12.2023.
- This is a fixed consolidated emolument — no separate HRA, DA, or other allowances apply.
- You will be entitled to a maximum of 10 days per year of Casual Leave (CL) and Restricted Holiday (RH) combined — no regular leave is allowed.
Selection Process (Walk-In Interview)
- Walk-In Interview: Eligible candidates must report to the Division of Nematology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi on 4 June 2026 at 9:30 AM with all original documents.
- Screening: A Screening Committee will review applications and shortlist candidates based on essential and desirable qualifications.
- Document Verification: Selected candidates must produce all original documents and medical certificates at the time of joining.
No DA/TA will be paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinated studies on oil-based bio-nematicide formulations against Root Knot Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) in tomato
- Conduct in-vitro experiments, pot trials, and field trials on tomato crops
- Handle laboratory work on plant-parasitic nematodes using microscopes
- Maintain experimental records, observations, and statistical data of trials
- Prepare reports and presentations using MS Word, PowerPoint, and statistical software
- Support the Project Investigator in day-to-day research activities at the Division of Nematology
- Follow all administrative, financial, and disciplinary rules of ICAR-IARI
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
B.Sc in Agricultural Sciences (includes all Agricultural and Allied Sciences such as Crop Science, Horticultural Science) from a recognised university
Preferred Qualification
Experience with vegetable crops, lab work, microscopes on plant-parasitic nematodes; working knowledge of MS Word, statistical analysis, PowerPoint
