Indian Air Force (IAF) is opening online registration for Airmen Group Y Medical Assistant intake 02/2027. If you have 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, or you hold a Diploma/B.Pharma/B.Sc in Pharmacy, you can apply online. Registration starts on 6 July 2026 and closes on 26 July 2026. During training, you get a Rs. 14,600 monthly stipend; after training, starting gross pay at the minimum scale is Rs. 26,900 per month plus allowances.

Indian Air Force Airmen Group Y Medical Assistant Recruitment 2026 - Airmen Intake 02/2027

Indian Air Force (IAF), through the Central Airmen Selection Board, has released the notice for Airmen in Group Y Non-Technical Medical Assistant trade. This is not a commissioned officer, pilot, or navigator entry; it is for airmen who will be trained for medical assistant duties, nursing support, first aid, medical stores, dispensaries, and ward supervision. Male Indian and Gorkha candidates from all States and Union Territories can apply if they meet the education, age, physical, and medical standards.

Who Can Apply?

Medical Assistant Trade - 10+2 Route

• Qualification: You must have passed 10+2 / Intermediate / equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognised Central, State or UT board.
• Marks: You need at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
• Vocational Route: A two-year vocational course with non-vocational subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English is also accepted with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.

Medical Assistant (Pharmacist) Route

• Qualification: You must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
• Pharmacy Qualification: You also need a Diploma / B.Pharma / B.Sc in Pharmacy with at least 50% marks.
• Registration: You must have valid registration with the State Pharmacy Council or Pharmacy Council of India at the time of enrolment.

Other Conditions

• Gender: This intake is for male candidates.
• Nationality: Indian citizens and Gorkha candidates who are subjects of Nepal can apply.
• Service Condition: Enrolment is initially for 20 years, subject to service conditions, and may be extended up to the age of 57 years.

Age Limit

• 10+2 candidates: You should be born between 1 July 2006 and 1 July 2010, both dates included.
• Diploma/B.Pharma/B.Sc Pharmacy candidates: Unmarried candidates should be born between 1 July 2003 and 1 July 2008, both dates included.
• Married pharmacy candidates: You should be born between 1 July 2003 and 1 July 2006, both dates included.
• Upper age at enrolment: If you clear all stages, the upper age should be 21 years for 10+2 candidates and 24 years for pharmacy-qualified candidates on the date of enrolment.

Salary

• During training, selected candidates get a stipend of Rs. 14,600 per month.
• After successful training, the starting gross pay at the minimum scale, including Military Service Pay, is Rs. 26,900 per month.
• You can also get Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance, Leave Ration Allowance, Children Education Allowance, HRA and other benefits as per rules.
• Other benefits include ration, clothing, medical facilities, accommodation, CSD facilities, leave, LTC, recreational facilities and group insurance cover.

Physical and Medical Standards

For Male Candidates

• Height: Minimum 152 cm for Medical Assistant and Medical Assistant (Pharmacist).
• Weight: Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per IAF standards.
• Chest: Minimum chest circumference should be 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion.
• Vision: Visual acuity should be 6/36 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye; colour vision should be CP-II.
• Hearing and Dental: You should hear forced whisper from 6 metres in each ear and have healthy gums with at least 14 dental points.
• PFT: The physical fitness test includes a 1.6 km run, followed by 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats.

Application Fee

• All candidates have to pay a non-refundable examination fee of Rs. 550 plus 18% GST.
• Payment is made online through net banking, debit card, credit card, UPI or other payment gateway options shown on the portal.
• The fee is not refunded once paid, except for multiple-payment cases handled as per portal rules.

Selection Process

The selection is held in three main phases after online application. You must clear each stage as per IAF rules and medical standards.

1. Phase I - Online Test: Objective online test for 45 minutes. The paper covers English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA).
2. Phase II - Physical Fitness and Adaptability: Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification, Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Test-I and Adaptability Test-II.
3. Phase III - Medical Examination: Candidates clearing Adaptability Test-II are called for medical examination by the Air Force Medical Team.
4. Merit and Enrolment: The Provisional Select List is planned for the last week of May 2027, and the enrolment list is planned for 1 June 2027.

How to Apply

1. Go to the official IAF/CASB recruitment portal at iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in.
2. Register with your valid email ID and mobile number. Both should remain active through the recruitment process.
3. Fill in personal details, contact details, qualification details and declaration carefully.
4. Upload the required photo, signature, left thumb impression and other documents in the format shown on the portal.
5. Pay the non-refundable fee of Rs. 550 plus 18% GST through the online payment gateway.
6. Submit the form and keep a printed copy of the submitted application for Phase I and Phase II requirements.
