Andaman & Nicobar Administration has released Advertisement No. 02/HSL/2026 for Higher Secondary Level posts across the Secretariat, departments, directorates, Port Management Board, Municipal Council, Electricity Department, Shipping Service and other offices. The notice covers 38 post codes under one common recruitment, so candidates can apply for one or more posts in preference order if they meet the required qualification. Lower Grade Clerk in the Secretariat has the largest share with 426 vacancies, making this a major clerical recruitment for the Islands.

Who Can Apply?

Common Qualification

• 12th pass: most posts need Senior Secondary School Certificate / 12th class or equivalent from a recognised board.
• Science stream posts: Laboratory Assistant, Forester, agriculture, fisheries and health-related posts need science subjects such as Biology, Physics or Chemistry as specified for that post.
• Typing and stenography posts: LGC, LDC, Typist and Depot Clerk need typing speed such as 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on computer; Stenographer posts need 80 w.p.m. shorthand and typing speed.
• Technical posts: IT Analyst and Computer Assistant need computer diploma/certificate or higher IT qualifications, along with data entry or aptitude requirements where prescribed.
• Shipping posts: Master, Chief Engine Driver and Marine Radio Operator posts need certificates of competency, GMDSS/GOC or similar maritime qualifications and experience as given in the annexure.

Local Reservation Rules

• Local ST candidates covered under the A&N Islands Scheduled Tribe order can claim ST reservation.
• Local OBC-NCL candidates covered under A&N Administration notifications can claim OBC reservation with a valid certificate.
• Other ST/OBC candidates from outside the UT are considered only against unreserved vacancies.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years.
• Group B (NG): 18 to 30 years for male and female candidates.
• Group C male candidates: 18 to 33 years.
• Group C female candidates: 18 to 38 years.
• Age reference date: closing date of online application, 5 July 2026.
• Relaxation: PwBD, ex-servicemen, eligible government employees, local reserved categories and other eligible categories get relaxation as per the notice and government rules.

Salary

• Pay Level 2: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month for posts such as LGC/LDC/Typist and similar Group C posts.
• Pay Level 3: Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month for posts such as Laboratory Assistant, Patwari, Tally Clerk and some field posts.
• Pay Level 4: Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month for Stenographer, Veterinary Compounder, IT Analyst, Store Keeper and similar posts.
• Pay Level 5: Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month for Mechanical Foreman and Forester.
• Pay Level 6: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month for Group B (NG) shipping posts such as Master 1st Class and Chief Engine Driver.

Physical Standards

• Forester: physical standards are prescribed, including minimum height and chest measurements for general and ST candidates.
• Forester endurance test: male candidates must complete a 25 km walk in 4 hours; female candidates must complete a 14 km walk in 4 hours.
• Veterinary Compounder and some shipping posts: physical endurance, swimming, vision or trade requirements apply where listed in the post-wise annexure.

Application Fee

• Fee amount: Rs. 100.
• No fee: Female, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted.
• Payment mode: Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay card, credit/debit card, UPI payment or QR code.

Selection Process

1. Online TBT Examination: all valid online applicants will be called for the Tablet Based Test.
2. Tier-II qualifying test: Physical Standard / Physical Measurement and Endurance / Skill / Trade Test will be held only for posts where it is prescribed.
3. Document verification: shortlisted candidates must upload or produce original certificates for age, qualification, category, disability, experience, NOC and other claims.
4. Final merit: selection is based on TBT performance and post preference, subject to qualifying the applicable Tier-II test and document verification.
