BDL Director Technical Recruitment 2026: Overview

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is recruiting a Director (Technical) through the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). BDL manufactures advanced weapon systems for the Armed Forces and operates under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.

The board-level appointment reports to the Chairman and Managing Director. BDL has its registered and corporate offices in Hyderabad, Telangana; the role brings technical leadership to current development projects, advanced-technology programmes and future projects.

The notification places particular emphasis on in-house research and development and indigenisation. The Director connects technology planning with project management, system upgrades and customer relationships, supporting the company’s contribution to the government’s Atma Nirbhar programme.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Appointment runs for five years from joining, until superannuation, or until further orders, whichever comes first. You should consider this tenure when deciding whether to pursue the board position.
• Immediate absorption: Central Government officers, including Armed Forces and All India Services officers, and officers from public-sector banks, financial institutions and autonomous bodies are considered only on immediate absorption.
• Commitment to join: Your application must include an undertaking that you will join if selected. PESB will reject an application without this undertaking.
• Withdrawal after interview: Expressing unwillingness to join after interview can lead to a two-year bar on consideration for CPSE board positions, counted from the interview date.
• Withdrawal after an offer: Expressing unwillingness after an appointment offer can lead to a two-year bar counted from the offer date. For CPSE applicants, these restrictions apply to CPSEs other than their own; the notice allows no relaxation.

Application Submission Notes

Online forwarding through the proper authority is part of the application route. Filling your own form does not complete the process where an employer or controlling authority must forward it; private-company applicants apply directly to PESB.

• Government officers: Use your cadre-controlling authority; officers from banks, financial institutions and autonomous bodies use the relevant administrative ministry or department.
• Public enterprises: Board-level CPSE applications go through the administrative ministry or department, while below-board applications go through the CPSE. State-enterprise applicants use their administrative secretary, controlling authority or enterprise, as applicable.
• JVs and federations: Applications pass through the nodal officer or competent authority. The PESB website provides registration information for these authorities.
• Submission format: PESB does not accept physical or emailed applications. Incomplete applications and online applications received after the relevant cut-off are rejected.

• Advise the board on productivity and technology for development and advanced-technology projects.
• Shape technical inputs for short-term and long-term company plans.
• Monitor in-house research and development programmes.
• Guide system improvements, technical upgrades and indigenisation.
• Oversee technical aspects of customer relationship management.
• Support project management and domestic development under the Atma Nirbhar programme.
