IREL Tradesman Trainee Recruitment 2026: Overview

IREL (India) Limited, a Mini Ratna Category-I public sector company under the Department of Atomic Energy, is hiring Tradesman Trainees in four trades under Advertisement No. CO/HRM/36/2026. The company mines and processes beach sand minerals such as ilmenite, rutile, zircon and garnet, and it also runs rare earth plants in Odisha and Kerala. These are regular posts: you first train for one year on a fixed stipend, and after finishing the training you may be absorbed as a Tradesman in the W-3 grade of your trade.

The openings are spread over six units in five states, from the Orissa Sands Complex (OSCOM) in Odisha to the upcoming Rare Earth and Titanium Theme Park at Bhopal. If you hold an ITI or NAC certificate and have already worked in your trade in an industrial plant, this is a direct route into a central PSU.

Posts and Disciplines

• Tradesman Trainee (Fitter): the biggest group and the only trade open at all six units — OSCOM in Odisha, Chavara and RED Aluva in Kerala, Manavalakurichi in Tamil Nadu, REPM Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and RETTP Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
• Tradesman Trainee (Electrician): posts at OSCOM, Chavara, Manavalakurichi and RED Aluva; you must also hold a valid statutory electrical licence.
• Tradesman Trainee (Instrumentation): a small group at OSCOM, REPM Visakhapatnam and RETTP Bhopal.
• Tradesman Trainee (Attendant Operator Chemical Plant): posts at Chavara, RED Aluva, REPM Visakhapatnam and RETTP Bhopal; besides the AOCP trade certificate, a Class 12 science pass with Chemistry also qualifies, and the experience must come from running a chemical or allied process plant.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• One unit, one trade: You can apply for only one post at one unit. Applying for more than one trade gets you rejected, and if you apply twice for the same trade, only the last application counts.
• Training first: Selected candidates train for one year under company policy. Absorption as Tradesman comes only after you complete that training successfully.
• Place of posting: You are posted at the unit you pick in the form, and no change is allowed later. The job is still transferable to any IREL unit, office or project site in India.
• Not open to PwBD candidates: IREL states that none of these posts is suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities because of the nature of the work.
• Compassionate quota: Five percent of the vacancies are kept for compassionate appointments under company policy.
• Government and PSU employees: Apply through proper channel or bring a No Objection Certificate to the skill test; you can join only with a proper relieving order from your current employer.
• Not eligible: Anyone who took voluntary retirement (VRS) from a government body or PSU, and former IREL staff who were removed, terminated or left without notice.
• Travel costs: Candidates called for the skill test get second-class sleeper rail fare refunded; there is no travel allowance for the written test.
• Merit and wait-list: Merit lists are made separately for each unit and trade, and the wait-list stays valid for one year.
• Disputes: Only courts and tribunals in Mumbai can hear cases about this recruitment.

Application Submission Notes

You apply only through the online form linked on the IREL careers page. Registration sends your Application Sequence Number and password to your email and mobile, and the form cannot be edited once you submit it. You do not need to post a printout to IREL, but save a copy, because the print option closes after the last date.
