VPA Fire Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) is engaging a Fire Officer for its Marine Department at Visakhapatnam. You will work in the Fire Service Section under the Deputy Conservator. The appointment is a need-based contract, and the terms cover shift work, emergency attendance and training on the port’s firefighting system.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract period: The initial engagement lasts one year from joining. VPA may renew it based on satisfactory performance and its needs; renewal remains at the authority’s discretion.
• Employment status: The contract does not give you a right to continuous engagement or an appointment to another port post. The port’s temporary-employee regulations do not apply to this engagement.
• Duty schedule: You must report promptly after the appointment order and work at least eight hours a day in general duty or shifts. Port holidays and emergencies outside duty hours may also need your attendance without extra pay.
• Leave: You receive twelve days of leave per calendar year on a proportionate basis. Take prior permission; unauthorised absence leads to proportionate deductions.
• Training and uniform: You must complete on-the-job training on VPA’s firefighting system, arrange your own uniform and follow the port’s safety rules while on duty.
• Accommodation: You may request a Type IV family quarter, subject to availability and applicable rent. Bachelor accommodation is not provided, and utility and conservancy charges remain payable.
• Travel arrangements: Arrange your own transport to reach the work location on time. Obtain the Deputy Conservator’s permission before leaving headquarters.
• Ending the contract: VPA may terminate the engagement without giving a reason. If you resign, give one month’s notice; leaving without it attracts forfeiture of pay for the remaining notice period.
• Conduct and disputes: Misconduct or loss caused to port property can lead to action. Contract disputes go to the VPA Chairperson, whose decision is binding under the stated terms.
