IIT Kharagpur JRF Industrial Systems Engineering 2026

IIT Kharagpur JRF Industrial and Systems Engineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a project in its Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Kharagpur. Led by Sarada Prasad Sarmah, the study focuses on predicting accident risk and reducing it during the final mile of freight deliveries. The project, called Driving Under Pressure, brings a road-safety question into the study of freight delivery operations. You would join a temporary research assignment supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), with the final part of the delivery journey as its specific research setting.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial term: The project appointment starts with a one-year period counted from your joining date. The notice describes a time-bound assignment rather than a regular institute post.
• Possible continuation: An extension depends on your performance. The stated maximum period is four years, subject to the project ending earlier, so the advertisement does not assure the full maximum tenure.
• Project-linked endpoint: The engagement ends if the project terminates earlier. Consider this limit alongside the initial term when deciding whether the assignment fits your plans.
• Interview consideration: Meeting the minimum requirements does not automatically secure an interview call. The institute can decide whom to call from among applicants who meet those requirements.
• Source clarification: The vacancy entry is inconsistent with a usable headcount in both the recruitment page and linked advertisement. Confirm the intended number with the institute rather than relying on that entry.

Application Submission Notes

The advertisement mentions plain paper, while its specific recruitment page provides an online application link for the same reference. No separate postal submission address is stated in the PDF; follow the notice-linked portal instructions and clarify any paper submission requirement with the institute.
