Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli (OFT), a unit of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring specialists for its factory in Tamil Nadu. These fixed-tenure engineering roles support production automation, inspection, manufacturing improvements and product development.

Post-wise Duties

Automation and AI Expert

You will identify where automation can help the factory, prepare plans and assess savings. The role also covers autonomous material movement and defining work for outside suppliers.

Industrial Engineering Specialist

You will improve tooling and process layouts to reduce labour time and material use. You will also record cost savings and coordinate approval of process layouts and inspection schedules.

Inspection Automation Specialist

You will connect quality records from raw materials through finished components. Work includes automated check sheets, inspection specifications, barcodes and component tracking.

Product Development Manager (Technical)

You will coordinate research and development projects, review drawings and track project progress. You will prepare technical proposals and budgets, and assess which work can be handled inside the factory or by outside suppliers.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial contract lasts one year. Yearly renewals depend on factory needs and your performance, with a total limit of four years. There is no right to extension or regular appointment.
• Deployment: Your base is OFT, but work needs may take you to other AWEIL units, government offices or other agencies.
• Working arrangements: Factory timings apply. You may need to work on holidays without extra compensation.
• Leave: You earn one day per calendar month. Unused leave can carry into an extended contract but lapses if the engagement ends.
• Contract terms: You must sign a contract and a confidentiality agreement. The opening clause permits either side to end the contract with one month's notice or salary instead; a later clause asks an employee leaving to give three months' notice or salary instead. Ask OFT to clarify this difference before signing.
• Performance: A poor rating brings a written improvement period of one month. Continued poor performance can end the engagement.
• Language: The English version governs if the two language versions differ.
