AIIMS Nagpur Project Research Scientist I Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur (AIIMS Nagpur) is hiring a Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) for AIRIS in its Department of Psychiatry. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funds this project, led by Dr Sonakshi Jyrwa, Associate Professor of Psychiatry.

AIRIS explores an AI-powered tool that can identify retinal phenotypes as possible diagnostic biomarkers for schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Your appointment will be tied to this research project at the Nagpur campus.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial tenure: The appointment lasts seven months. An extension can cover the remaining project period, depending on your performance.
  • Renewal decision: The project investigator evaluates performance, and renewal needs the Director’s approval. You should treat any extension as conditional.
  • Project closure: Your tenure ends automatically when the project finishes. The appointment does not create a right to permanent employment with AIIMS Nagpur or ICMR.
  • Work standards: You must meet the quality and quantity standards set for assigned work. Failure to meet these standards can lead to termination with seven days’ notice.
  • Resignation: If you choose to leave, you must give 30 days’ notice.
  • Interview travel: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview.

Valid Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) registration; at least one year in clinical settings or research involving mental health assessments.

Fluent English and Marathi/Hindi are required. Reading, writing and speaking Hindi, Marathi and English, cognitive and neuropsychological assessment experience, statistical software familiarity and data management and analysis are desirable.
