Post-wise Duties

Anganwadi Teacher

You will organise centre activities, guide children through age-appropriate learning, maintain service and attendance records, and coordinate with families and local welfare staff. The role also involves keeping the centre's work aligned with the department's child-development and nutrition programmes.

Anganwadi Helper

You will assist with the centre's daily setup, help deliver nutrition and child-care services, and support the teacher during community activities. Your work is practical and community-facing, so familiarity with the local habitation is important.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Local residence: Only a local woman from the relevant urban ward or rural Gram Panchayat can be considered for the centre concerned.
• Habitation reservation: an opening earmarked for an ST habitation is restricted to an ST woman from the same hamlet or habitation; an SC-habitation opening is restricted to an SC woman from the same Gram Panchayat.
• Roster: reservation is applied with the ICDS project as the unit under the prescribed state roster cycle. The district roster should therefore be read centre by centre before you choose an opening.
• Promotion channel: up to half of Anganwadi Teacher positions may be filled by promoting Anganwadi Helpers who meet the service, education, record and age conditions. The balance is filled through public notification.
