Tezpur University (TU) Assistant Professor (Biotechnology) Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Tezpur University (TU), a Central University in Assam, has released Advertisement No. 25/2026 for 2 Assistant Professor posts on a contractual basis in the Department of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology. These are 11-month contractual positions with a provision for further extension based on your performance. The department is looking for candidates who can teach both Animal Sciences and Biotechnology related courses, so this opening suits fresh Ph.D. holders as well as researchers with hands-on molecular technique experience.

Who Can Apply?

Option A - Indian Ph.D.:

• You need a Ph.D. in the advertised area of specialization with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in your preceding Master's degree - for example, M.Sc. in Life Science with specialization in Animal Science/Zoology/Biotechnology, or M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Microbiology/Biotechnology - from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Your Ph.D. must follow the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, including thesis evaluation by two external examiners, an open viva voce, and at least two published research papers from your Ph.D. work.

Option B - Foreign Ph.D.:

• Your Ph.D. can also be from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in the world by QS, THE, or the Shanghai ARWU rankings.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences with experience in molecular techniques, or in Microbiology/Biotechnology with relevant publications in the field.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed monthly emolument of Rs. 80,000 for this contractual position.
• No other allowances will be admissible on top of this fixed pay.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection for this post has 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting: If a large number of candidates apply, you will be shortlisted for interview based on your academic score (as per UGC 2018 Regulations, Appendix II Table 3A) and experience, using the details you provide in Annexure II.
2. Personal Interview: Final selection is based only on your performance in the interview. You must appear before the Selection Committee in person; the interview schedule will be notified later.
