SSB Senior Instructor Mountaineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the border guarding force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is filling the Senior Instructor (Mountaineering) post at its Directorate General in East Block-V, R.K. Puram, New Delhi, under advertisement No. 1/SSB/Pers-IV/Dep.-In/Mount/25/(CN-20685). This is a Group 'A' Gazetted post offered on deputation, including short-term contract — it is not an open-market vacancy, so the force can only consider serving officers of the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, subordinate or autonomous bodies, recognised research institutions and universities. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Deputation route only: departmental candidates in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion cannot be considered for appointment on deputation, and a serving deputationist cannot be considered for appointment on deputation by promotion.
• Tenure: the deputation period, counted together with any deputation or short-term-contract stint in another ex-cadre post you held immediately before this one in the same or another Central Government organisation or department, shall ordinarily not exceed three years.
• Rules that will govern you: while on deputation you come under the relevant SSB Act and Rules and the instructions the force issues from time to time, and you have to exercise the necessary "option" on joining.
• Withdrawal is barred: a candidate who is selected for this post will not be permitted to withdraw his or her name afterwards.
• The force can amend or cancel: the competent authority has reserved the right to curtail or enhance the vacancy, or to cancel the advertisement in whole or in part, without assigning any reason.
• Read the expedition-experience clause carefully: the eligibility table in the advertisement asks for five years of practical experience with active participation in mountaineering expeditions, while the Annexure-I bio-data proforma attached to the very same advertisement prints three years — prepare your papers on the stricter reading and let your forwarding authority settle the difference with the Directorate.
