SMPK Land Revenue Rent Recovery Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) is hiring a Land Revenue & Rent Recovery Officer for the Estate Division of its Kolkata Dock System. The role brings together estate revenue work, land records, property assessment and support on land-related legal matters. This is a contractual engagement with its normal office at Strand Road, Kolkata, though you may need to work elsewhere within the port's jurisdiction.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract and review: The engagement is provisionally for three years, with renewal linked to a performance review after each calendar year of service. The stated minimum performance benchmark is Very Good; a further contract after the term would need fresh agreement.
• Work schedule: Your normal working arrangements follow the practice at your posting. If urgent work falls on a weekly off or declared national holiday, you receive compensatory time off rather than additional compensation.
• Other work: You cannot continue another paid occupation during the contract. Other trade, business, private practice or consulting needs the port's prior written permission.
• Leave: The terms allow 15 days of leave a year with prior approval and up to 10 days of certified sick leave in a twelve-month period. Carry-forward of unused sick leave is limited to 50% and must remain within the contract period.
• Confidentiality: You must protect information obtained through your work and use the port's systems for authorised purposes. The confidentiality obligation continues after you leave, and you cannot keep copies of the port's records without written permission.
• Accommodation: Unfurnished port accommodation may be available against the applicable rent or licence fee and a security deposit. If you use it, you must follow the stated vacation and handover conditions when the contract ends.
• Training commitment: If the port sponsors expensive training, it may ask you to undertake to stay for a specified period afterwards. Read any such undertaking before accepting the training.
• Ending the contract: Either side may normally give one month's notice. The terms also allow termination on 24 hours' notice for unsatisfactory performance or conduct considered harmful to the port, with separate immediate-action provisions for specified breaches.
• Accountability and exit: You remain responsible for money, goods and property entrusted to you. Before leaving, return the port's property and records and complete its written confirmation that you have retained no confidential material.
