RRC SR Cultural Quota Recruitment 2026: Overview
Railway Recruitment Cell, Southern Railway (RRC Chennai) is recruiting through its Cultural Quota for the railway establishment. This is a direct recruitment drive for people with recognised training in an Indian classical dance form or Mridangam, with appointments linked to the railway categories described in the notice. Your cultural discipline is central to this recruitment, alongside the conditions for the railway post.
Posts and Disciplines
- Classical Dance: this discipline covers Indian classical dance forms recognised under the notice. It forms a separate cultural stream within the same Southern Railway recruitment.
- Mridangam: this stream is for the percussion discipline specified in the notice. Both streams share the same application window and general recruitment conditions.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Open competition: no post is exclusively reserved for OBC or SC/ST applicants. Community-based concessions still apply where the notice permits them, so your category claim must follow the prescribed conditions.
- Provisional candidature: acceptance of your application does not by itself confirm that you meet every condition. RRC can reject an application or cancel an appointment if the information supporting it proves incorrect.
- Practical arrangements: you must bring your own musical instrument for the demonstration. The railway will not supply instruments.
- Travel: the notice provides a second-class free railway pass for SC/ST applicants travelling to the written-test venue. Other applicants arrange their own travel, and no travel allowance, daily allowance or accommodation is provided.
- Contact details: keep the same personal email address and mobile number active throughout recruitment. RRC does not accept requests to change them and asks you to check its website because messages may not reach you.
- Changes to recruitment: the railway may correct errors or cancel part or all of the drive. Requests to postpone a scheduled test or demonstration will not be accepted.
- Fair selection: Southern Railway has not appointed agents or training agencies for recruitment. Your application remains subject to action for false information, impersonation or attempts to influence the process.

परीक्षा पैटर्न
You will take an objective written test or Computer Based Test (CBT) for 50 marks in 60 minutes. Choose Hindi or English in your application.
- Subjects: General Knowledge, Arithmetic and Cultural Subjects may be included.
- Negative marking: each wrong answer loses 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question.
- Qualifying marks: UR 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30% and ST 25%.
- Practical talent demonstration: 35 marks.
- Talent evidence through testimonials, certificates and awards: 15 marks.
- Total assessment: 100 marks.

- Recent colour JPG/JPEG photograph, 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, 100 DPI, 50-100 KB
- Running-hand signature in English or Hindi, JPG/JPEG, 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm, 100 DPI, 20-30 KB
- Attested English or Hindi translations of certificates in other languages
- Employer NOC at document verification for serving government or PSU applicants
