Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Botany for a DBT-NER project led by Dr. Ayam Victor Singh. The project studies microbes linked with traditionally fermented bamboo shoots from Arunachal Pradesh and explores their use in probiotic-enriched safe functional food. This is a focused life-science research role rather than a general laboratory vacancy.

Your work will sit at the meeting point of microbiology, fermentation and functional-food research. The project context makes the role especially relevant if you want hands-on exposure to indigenous fermented foods, microbial screening and laboratory evidence that may support safer probiotic products. You will work with the project investigator and the Botany team at the Rono Hills campus, where the research is being coordinated.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The first engagement is for one year. It may continue on satisfactory performance and continued project funding, up to a maximum of three years.
• Nature of appointment: The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the DBT-NER project. It does not create a claim to a regular university post.
• Research setting: You will work under the principal investigator in the Department of Botany at Rajiv Gandhi University, with the project theme defining the scope of the assignment.
• Interview format: The university has arranged a blended interaction, allowing the selection meeting to be conducted online or at the department.
• Travel support: The notice says no TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Continuation: Any extension depends on both your performance and the continuation of the sponsored project; it is not automatic.
