National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

NIT Silchar has released Advertisement No. NITS/Dean(R&C)/ECE/721/01/2026, dated 18 August 2026, for one Junior Research Fellow position under a project sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India (Project Sanction Number ANRF/ECRG/2025/003836/ENS). The project is titled "ML-Driven ISAC for Hybrid Satellite-Terrestrial 6G Connectivity" and intends to develop machine learning based algorithms to address sensing and communication in terrestrial wireless systems along with satellite systems and Integrated Satellite-Terrestrial Networks (ISTN). The Principal Investigator is Dr. Sucharita Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NIT Silchar. The position runs for 2 years, with extension possible based on a performance review conducted every 12 months.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Tech/ME in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electronics & Instrumentation (E&I), with a valid GATE score.
• Desirable Experience: A solid understanding of digital communication, probability theory, optimization and wireless communications is crucial for this project.
• Desirable Skills: Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB or Python.
• Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply for this post.

Age Limit

• You should be up to 35 years old as on the closing date of application, 3 September 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates get relaxation on qualification and age as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 37,000 per month for this JRF position.
• HRA: An additional 10% is paid if Institute accommodation is not provided to you.
• No TA/DA is paid for appearing at the interview or for joining the post — keep this in mind when planning your travel.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for this JRF post. Selection is based on:

1. Screening of Applications: The Institute has full discretion to restrict the number of candidates shortlisted for interview based on screening. If no suitable candidate is found, the post may not be filled.
2. Interview: The date, time and mode (online or offline) of the interview, along with the venue, will be notified to shortlisted candidates only through email.

If you are already employed, you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer at the time of interview. If selected, you will need to sign an agreement with the Institute at the time of joining, and all terms of engagement will follow the guidelines of the sponsoring agency (ANRF) and NIT Silchar.
